What is Trilateral Research, and what is the CCINDLE project?
Trilateral Research is an ethical AI, research, and data protection company based in the UK and Republic of Ireland. It has worked on more than 100 primarily Horizon-funded international research projects, and has particular experience with data protection, ethics innovation, and responsible AI in addition to varied subject matter expertise. One project on which Trilateral Research is currently collaborating is CCINDLE.
CCINDLE is a Horizon Europe-funded research project, funded by the European Union under grant No 101061256. UK consortium partners are funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under the UK government’s Horizon Europe funding guarantee [grant numbers 10051932 and 10048433]. It focuses on threats to democracy and feminism, and the connections between them. CCINDLE studies these threats and the responses of feminist change-makers, engaging with them to strengthen their voices and working directly with feminist grassroots activists, institutional actors, and gender professionals to co-create theoretical and practical knowledge.
What is the scope of the Gender-based Violence and Online Harms Symposium and this privacy policy?
The Gender-based Violence and Online Harms Symposium will feature speakers from research and other projects relating to gender and violence, such as CCINDLE, and conduct a roundtable along with other activities and opportunities for interaction. The event will feature attendees from gender research, violence, and campaigning backgrounds and provide them with an opportunity to connect with each other and discuss international trends and responses to GBV and related issues.
This privacy policy outlines the requirements for data processing and handling required as part of registration for this event.
What personal data will be collected from you?
With your consent, we will collect the following data from you. Unless noted, your information will not be shared beyond the event organisers and hosting venue:
- Your email address, in order to contact you about the event.
- Your name, which will be used to enable you to exercise your rights regarding your personal data and introduce you as a speaker if you present at the event. This will be shared with the Royal Society for the purposes of administering the event only, and used to create attendee badges which delegates must wear throughout the event.
- Your organisation will, if you consent, be processed so that we can tailor the content of this event. We may also report the organisations attending in reports for the CCINDLE project to the European Commission or UKRI.
- Photographic and video images taken during the symposium, if you consent, for use in the communication and promotion activities of CCINDLE and Trilateral Research. If you do not wish to be photographed, please ensure that you make this known to organisers at the outset of the event.

Any transfer of personal data between the UK and the EU will take place on the basis of applicable adequacy decisions.
What are your personal data protection rights?
You have the following rights regarding our processing of your personal data. You can exercise your rights by emailing us (see below):
- Right to withdraw consent – You can withdraw consent that you have previously given to one or more specified purposes to process your personal data. This will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent.
- Right of access – You can ask us to verify whether we are processing personal data about you and if so, to have access to a copy of such data.
- Right to rectification and erasure – You can ask us to correct our records if you believe they contain incorrect or incomplete information about you or ask us to erase your personal data after you withdraw your consent to processing or when we no longer need it for the purpose for which it was originally collected.
- Right to restriction of processing – You can ask us to temporarily restrict our processing of your personal data if you contest the accuracy of your personal data, prefer to restrict its use rather than having us erase it, or need us to preserve it for you to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. A temporary restriction may apply while verifying whether we have overriding legitimate grounds to process it. You can ask us to inform you before we lift that temporary processing restriction.
- Right to data portability – In some circumstances, where you have provided personal data to us, you can ask us to transmit that personal data (in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format) directly to another company.
- Right to object – You can object to our use of your personal data. However, we may need to keep some minimal information (e.g. e-mail address) to facilitate complying with your request.
- Right to make a complaint to your local Data Protection Authority (DPA) (see https://ec.europa.eu/justice/article-29/structure/data-protection-authorities/index_en.htm) regarding any concerns you may have about our data handling practices.
We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access the information or to exercise any of your other rights. This helps us to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. No fee is required to make an initial request unless your request is clearly unfounded or excessive. Depending on the circumstances, we may be unable to comply with your request based on other lawful grounds.
