Some research activities in CCINDLE WP2, WP3, and WP4 imply the collection and analysis of social media data from main platforms – i.e., Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. These research activities are aimed at exploring the discursive dimension of opposition to gender equality and democracy, identifying feminist responses issued by actors within and outside the institutions, whether they occur online or offline.  

Collected contents come from Facebook public pages with at least 25k likes/followers; Instagram accounts with more than 50K followers, as well as verified accounts; and public tweets that contain specific hashtags of interest for our research. Data are collected exclusively through authorized access points, after securing official permission from interested platforms, and in compliance with heir Terms of Service.   

Collected data are stored in a protected way, pseudonymized, and are processed by means of qualitative and quantitative methods. In no case, data collection and analysis will be conducted in ways that allow the identification of users that are not already verified or publicly recognizable via platform means (e.g., public pages or widely followed accounts), harm individual safety, the violation of individual privacy rights.  

Statistic and/or scientific results (e.g.  publication of scientific articles and/or set up of database, including those in open access, participation to congresses or other scientific events, etc.) may be disclosed only in form of aggregated or anonymous data and in any case in a form that does not permit the identification of individuals that are not already verified or publicly recognizable via platform means (e.g., public pages or widely followed accounts).

we would like to inform you that the current legislation on the protection of personal data with particular regard to research1 establishes the right of every natural person to protect their personal data. 

In compliance with the above referred legislation on personal data protection, the processing of your personal data in the framework of the research Project, will be carried out in accordance to the principles outlined in Article 5 GDPR and, in particular, your personal data shall be processed lawfully, fairly in a transparent manner and ensuring appropriate security.

In particular, your data are processed in compliance with point (e) of Article 6(1) of the GDPR (performance of tasks carried in the public interest). 

The processing of particular categories of data is carried out on the basis of the consent of the data subject pursuant to Article 9(2)(a) of the GDPR and Article 7 of the Ethics Rules for processing for statistical or scientific research purposes.

DATA STORAGE PERIOD 

At the end of the Project your data will be retained for 2 years for the purpose of enabling the procedure of successful completion of the project activity by the funding agency 

NATURE OF DATA PROVISION 

Personal data are essential to carry out the implementation of the scientific purpose of the Project. Failure to provide such data will make it impossible to take part to the Project. 

CATEGORIES OF RECIPIENTS AND DATA TRANSFER TO A THIRD COUNTRY 

Your data will not be transferred to third subjects. 

DISCLOSURE OF RESEARCH RESULTS

RIGHTS OF THE DATA SUBJECTS  

The Data Subject shall have the rights referred to in article 15 et seq. of the GDPR and, in particular, the right of access to, to rectification or integration, to erasure of personal data, to restriction of or to object to processing of personal data. The Data Subject shall have the right to withdraw his or her consent to the processing of special categories of personal data. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
